I've always had electric blankets and they are safer now than ever before. There are a lot of built-in safeguards and if you use your electric blanket according to the manufacturers directions, there will not be a problem. Most electric blankets have 8-10 heat settings. The higher the number, the higher the heat. You could easily have the temperature 85F. That's what I'm most comfortable at (I'm a Floridian) so I'm sure the electric blanket will get that warm. I use mine all winter because I can't stand being cold.
